By Mike McMahon

Former Merrimack goaltender and associate head coach Mike Doneghey has been promoted to Head USA Scout for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Doneghey has been with the Blackhawks since 2009, where he works alongside former Merrimack head coach Ron Anderson (Director of Player Recruitment). Doneghey has been part of the organization for three Stanley Cup Championships. Prior to joining the Blackhawks, Doneghey was the head coach and general manager of the Boston Bandits (then known as the Bridgewater Bandits) in the EJHL.

Doneghey joined Merrimack in 1999 as an assistant coach and served as interim head coach when Chris Serino underwent treatment for throat cancer and also served as head coach at Fairfield University during its transition from Division III to Division I in 1998. Doneghey was a goaltender at Merrimack from 1989-93.
