Former NHLers Eric Nickulas & Brian Pothier to Lead Bandits U14 Team

The Boston Bandits Hockey Club is proud to announce that they will be icing an elite U14 team for the 2018-19 season. The program will be led by prominent former NHL players Eric Nickulas and Brian Pothier. Nickulas, a former Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues player, will be the Head Coach and oversee all aspects of the program. Pothier, who had an extensive NHL career with the Atlanta Thrashers, Ottawa Senators, Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes will serve as Director of Player Development.

“Having two men such as Eric and Brian running our U14 program will be such a tremendous benefit to our kids. Not only do they have impressive playing resumes, both are exemplary teachers of the game, which is so important at this level,” said Senior Advisor of Hockey Operations Doug Shepherd. The Team will practice and play out of the Bridgewater Ice Arena. They will have two full-ice sessions per week, as well as, off-ice training with the Bandits Strength Coach. The team will play in the EHF U14 Division and attend major showcase events in North America. The addition of a U14 Program will add to the impressive array of teams that the Bandits have assembled in recent months. The Junior Bandits are set to compete in the USPHL’s NCDC league in 2017-18 and have attracted NCAA Division 1 caliber players to the program.

“We could not be happier with the direction of the Bandits club right now. With the addition of the NCDC team, the move to the USPHL at the Junior level, and the strengthening of our youth program, we are very excited for the future of elite hockey in Southeastern Massachusetts,” added Shepherd.
