The Boston Bandits would like to announce Rich Alger as the NCDC head coach for the 2018-19 season. Coach Alger has been with the Bandits organization for twelve years and has been an integral part of building the Junior program into the success it has become. The club has promoted from within due to Coach Alger’s involvement and connection to elite 16U and 18U players throughout New England.

Coach Alger played college hockey at both UMASS Amherst and Boston University. While with the Terriers, Alger enjoyed a national championship as well as three consecutive Beanpots. He then attended the Quebec Nordiques’ training camp. Prior to working with the Boston Bandits, Coach Alger served as lead instructor for Paul Vincent’s Dynamic Skating and Garry Hebert Power Skating.

“We are ecstatic to announce the appointment of Rich Alger as Head Coach of our NCDC team,” said Senior Advisor of Hockey Operations, Doug Shepherd. “Rich is one of the sharpest minds in the game when it comes to hockey development. His demeanor and approach fits with the brand that we have created with the Bandits over the past few years,” added Shepherd. “Young players will thrive and thoroughly enjoy playing for Coach Alger.”

The Bandits program remains committed to developing players on and off the ice and providing maximum expo- sure to NCAA Division 1 programs. With the addition of Tom Poti as part owner and Rich Alger as NCDC head coach, the Bandits continue to feature one of the most respected and experienced hockey operations staff in all of Junior Hockey. The Bandits are ideally situated in Southern Massachusetts, just a short drive from top Hockey East and ECAC schools such as Boston University, Harvard, Boston College, Providence, Northeastern, Yale, UConn, UNH and many others.
